ROY ZIMMERMAN'S "FUNNY SONGS AND BAD ADVICE"
Roy Zimmerman’s new show “Funny Songs and Bad Advice” contains plenty of both. In thirteen albums over twenty years, Roy Zimmerman has brought the sting of satire to the struggle for Peace and Social Justice. His songs have been heard on HBO and Showtime. He has recorded for Warner/Reprise Records. Zimmerman’s YouTube videos have amassed over seven million views. He’s been profiled on NPR’s “All Things Considered,” and he’s a featured blogger for the Huffington Post. The world is full of funny songs, but Zimmerman’s hilarious, rhyme-intensive originals are also incisive calls to action, smart, savvy and undeniable.

Steve Deasy “Let Me Make Peace” Concert Celebrates the 9th Anniversary of the Citizens for Peace

The public is invited to celebrate the 9th anniversary of the Citizens for Peace and enjoy the “Let Me Make Peace” Concert with songwriter, musician and performer Steve Deasy on Tuesday, November 13th at Unity of Livonia at 7 p.m.

Steve plays guitar, piano and harmonic and will entertain the audience with thought provoking, inspiring and funny original songs. It will be a fun celebration of nine years of working to help create a culture of peace.

The Citizens for Peace will present their first Compassionate Citizen Award honoring
Caroline and Jerry Trout. When Caroline’s cousin and her husband were killed in an accident, they left five children including a toddler. Caroline and Jerry adopted all five children to add to their family of two children. At Jerry Trout’s recent funeral service, their now adult children expressed their love, gratitude and admiration for both of their parents, showing that compassionate action is like a boomerang – it comes back to the sender. Telling stories of local heroes like Caroline and Jerry will hopefully inspire all of us to act compassionately in our own lives.

Following the concert, the celebration will end with participants enjoying an anniversary cake. All are welcome. For more information call Colleen at 734-425-0079 or go to www.citizensforpeace11.blogspot.com

Steve Deasy – show in Pontiac, Fri. 2/19/10 & Banjo Jokes

Just a reminder about the show in Pontiac this Friday.  For info see below.  I know in my original note the other artist was going to be Barb Barton from Lansing, but they must have changed it, and it will be someone called Banjo Jim and Ricky.  Which puts me in mind of two banjo jokes:

Question: How will we know that the stage is level on Friday?

Answer: Banjo Jim will be drooling out of both sides of his mouth.

Question: How will we be able to tell if Ricky has perfect pitch?

Answer: If he can toss the banjo into the dumpster from 20 yards out and hit Mark Iannace’s accordian. &

I’m looking forward to meeting Banjo Jim and Ricky and seeing you all there.

Peace,

Steve
